I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 2011-2012 Academic session and a bright looking recruiting season! I am very excited for this upcoming year as SASA continues to grow and provide excellent opportunities for both students and firms alike. With combined activities from SASA, the Sprott School of Business, the Business Career Centre and the Sprott Business Students’ Society, we hope to make this a memorable academic year with many successes and accomplishments. The Sprott Accounting Students Association’s executive council are a highly motivated and hardworking team eager to provide exceptional service to our members and sponsors during the upcoming year.

We continue to strive for excellence and, as such, we have grown our organization this past summer to meet the rising demands of our membership. We have added a host of new events, information sessions and competitions for our members. One of the new initiatives SASA is undertaking is the first annual Accounting Alumni Meet and Greet which will allow our members to interact with Sprott graduates within the accounting community for the first time. I hope this large scale event will become a staple of the organisation. With the new initiatives organized by SASA’s executive council, students are being provided more opportunity to learn about the three designations, the countless opportunities an accounting degree has to offer, and the necessary skills and professional competencies required for successful networking and relationship building activities during the recruitment season and in the industry after graduation.

Each year, the accomplishments of the association greatly depend on the generous contributions of our valued sponsors and we genuinely appreciate these donations as they enable us to provide better quality events and opportunities for our members. Without your support we would not have the tools necessary to achieve our goals and for that our executives and members thank you.

In closing, we as an association will continue to build on our core competencies to develop new innovative initiatives to connect promising young accounting students and graduates to the accounting community as well as maintain our competitive edge over competing business schools. We know the Sprott Accounting Students to be among the best in the country and we are certain that after joining us at our events you will be convinced.
